What age can you get your permit in Virginia?

15 and a half

Do you have to have taken the classroom portion in order to get permit?

No

Can a student get the permit through Fuhrmann Driving Academy?

No, the only place you can get the permit is at the DMV.

How many questions are on the permit test?

There are 10 questions on signs. You must get all 10 correct in order to continue taking the test. There are 30 general knowledge questions. You must get 24 correct to pass the test.

What are the requirements once you have your permit to get your license?

There are 2 components in receiving your license. The classroom portion and the behind the wheel portion.

Where can a student do the classroom portion?

If you are a public school student, you will take that in your 10th grade P.E. class. Homeschool or private school students are able to do the class with us online or in person.

Are public school students allowed to take the online course?

Yes, they are.

Does Fuhrmann Driving Academy offer an in person classroom portion?

We do offer it at some private schools during the school year and over the summer. Contact us for that schedule!

When can the behind the wheel be taken?

After a student has taken the classroom part and driven at least 25 hours with their parents you can do the behind the wheel.

After the behind the wheel, do I go to the DMV to take the road test?

No, the road test is part of the behind the wheel.

When can I start driving on my own?

Once you have had your permit for 9 months, completed the classroom and behind the wheel, you can then drive on your own.

How do I get my license?

After completion of behind the wheel, you will receive your temporary license that you can use to drive on your own.

How do I get my permanent license?

As of now, the city you live in will mail the permanent license to you.

How long does it take before you receive the permanent license?

That can take anywhere from 4-6 months.
